Birthday glam shots: #SelfieGameStrong

My birthday was over the weekend and it was great! Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy day! Now I'm mostly excited to get back to exercising after my weekend off, which I will do after I write this post! But first I have some photos to share.

So I've done some headshots for friends recently, and it's had me feeling like I need some new headshots myself. I mostly just wanted a photo that I took of myself for my LinkedIn, but of course I got carried away. I figured my birthday would be a good day to have a little mini shoot with myself since I would be getting dolled up anyway, and it was a day where I thought I could work on something for just myself without feeling guilty!

It was a fun time. I used to do my hair and makeup all the time and have mini photo shoots with myself when no one was home at my house during high school and even after. It's what helped fuel my love of photography and modeling, and some of those photos I took even helped get me hired as a model by ModCloth! Maybe I'll make a special post with some of those throwbacks sometime soon, just for fun.

But these photos are probably a bit better than those old ones (ha, i'd sure hope so!). For these I just hung a throw blanket in a doorway in my living room, and used two windows as my light source. I set up my tripod and my remote shutter release, then stood a few feet back with my remote. I wanted to use my prime lens since I was shooting for headshots, but if I would have had a little more time I wold have liked to shoot some with my zoom lens too to get a few fashion-type portraits (since my outfit was poppin'), but I had a birthday to get out and celebrate, so we'll leave that for another day.
