High Dynamic Range Photography

For one of my final photography assignments of this semester I got to learn how to do HDRs (High Dynamic Range photography) using my DSLR along with Photomatix. Going into the assignment I wasn't totally sure how I felt about HDRs, but after learning how to do them and actually doing a few I'm really excited to know this technique and to begin experimenting with it more! Below are the HDR photos I took. First, I decided to try out some self-portraits, using this decoration that sits in my living room. I'm really pleased with how the lights made the catchlight in my eyes super twinkly. Next, I went on a spur of the moment adventure on a frigid evening to the Vinegar Hill steps at the top of 7th Street with my photographer girlfriend Sarah Bader (shout-out Sarah Bae!), where we snapped photos of the sunset while our hands turned into blocks of ice. Super pretty sky though! Overall, I'm really excited to know how to do HDR photos and to add this new technique to my photography repertoire!
